I'm about to start practising in the real estate industry. I know I'll need a good smartphone, but I have no clue which will work best with real estate software.

I've looked at the blackjack, the blackberry pearl, nokia E62 & the blackberry 7130. Each one has some option that the other doesn't and I think I might need (eg. camera but no wi-fi, no camera but w/ editing capacity, etc.).

Is there anyone working in the field that could share some knowledge?

I use the blackberry. Its a great tool for my business, but everyone has personal preferences. I would suggest a phone without a camera. You will not be using it to take photos of homes because the quality will not be good enough. I would suggest a nice digital camera for that.
You may also want to look into the trio. Its a good phone as well.
My blackberry is more than enough phone for me
Good luck

It seems like the popular phone for people in the business is the Treo. Make sure to get one with a Palm operating system. If you go with Outlook as your business contact manager, you can get away with a blackberry also, but If you want to go with a Real Estate specific program like Simple Remote, you will need the Palm operating system that you can only get on a Treo.

Good luck,

I have a blackberry, which I love, but I pretty much HAVE to use a headset with it, or people have trouble understanding me (a lot of feedback with the handset.)

I had the treo...liked that a lot too--didnt' have the same microphone problem.

I agree with the first poster, I think the camera is extraneous...haven't seen a really good camera photo from anyone yet...

good luck

I have a treo 700 and love it. I don't know if your MLS offers the sofware to open keysafes with your PDA as mine does. If it does I would highly recomend you get a Treo, it updates automatically without the need to update through a dock. If it doesn't still get a Treo because it won't be long before your mls transfers over to the new systems
