I take it your recycle bin is empty.
You need a jolly good defrag, by the sound of things.

In short, Limewire will not directly slow your computer down. However, it does provide a nice open portal for all viruses and other malicious software. After all, how can you be sure the file you're downloading is what it's meant to be? PC slowdown is usually a result of a combination of things, such as: * Free space on hard drive - check the drive is not too ful. If it is, do a cleanup exercise and remove/burn to disc anything which can be deleted. * Defrag the drive. Fragmentation is the biggest cause of pc slowdown. * Clear out all temporary internet files and cookies. The more temp files, the slower your internet experience gets (mostly applicable to internet explorer.) Also worth running a full spyware and virus scan. You will find problems with performance when spyware, for example, is present on the computer. They tend to clog up your internet connection. Hope this helps :)

You only have so many bites of space, specified by yourself and your internet provider to work with. Unless you agree to pay more for extended length, when this space begins to get filled things start getting slower. I was flabergasted when the person I share this computer with and I started on the internet 9-7-02. Some of the space that emails from people can take up if you save them is astounding (1,000 + bites)! That's what the "deal" is. Be careful.

Havings thousands of photo's will not slow down you computer as long as the hard disk you have has plenty of capacity, your system will slowdown however if your hard disk is near it's limit, windows creates something called a pagefile this is a sort of virtual ram that allocates some of your hard drive space which is used when windows has used up all of your available system RAM (Random Access Memory). So if your hard disk is full windows cannot create so much of this virtual memory, and has to wait for it to become available as programs open and close.
So really as long as you have plenty of space on your hard disk you can store as much data as you like.

windows uses the free space on the primary hard drive as a temporary storage space for information that will likely be reused, so if it is stored there accessing it again is faster than downloading it again, but also after deleting all those files you should defrag your hard drive to reorganize the free space this will also make the computer run faster. go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, disk defragmenter.

go to disc cleanup on your desk top and follow the links to compress old files this will literally compress all the things on your computor that you havent looked at for some time and squeeze them into a smaller space so it frees up the space you can use you can set it to do this automatically aswell. check you havent got a virus that can cause it to run slow aswell

Photos and other media shouldn't slow your computer down just because there are lots of them.
However, you'll probably find that there are a couple of things you can do to make your drive work more efficiently.
There are excellent articles on microsoft.com - see the sources below...
