Why does everybody (Dems and Repubs) refer to Senator Clinton as "Hillary" instead of by her last name? Is it just to differentiate between her and her husband or is it because she is a woman and somehow doesn't "deserve" the same referencial status as a man in politics? I just find it curious that she seems to be the only senator who is referred to by first name.

It's just to differentiate between her and Bill. That's all it is.

I routinely hear her referred to as Senator Clinton . About as often I hear her referred to as Hillary Clinton .
I havent noticed any other politician being treated with any more or less reverence .
Without a trace of hyperbole I can say they are all EVIL incarnate and deserving of nothing but contempt . So if Hillary has been treated with disdain by the media it is fully deserved .
That goes for the whole lot of the political class (republicans included ) that destroys human potential for thier own selfish gain .

well we had her as first lady for two terms before the evil empire showed up. I believe she became like a household name to alot of Americans during that time. for those who do not care for her ( rep. ),
they would probably rather not bring up the Clinton name because it might bring back good memories of peaceful and prosperous times. That's a threat I guess.
I don't think it has anything to do with her gender and if it does then shame on all the sexist males who do so.

I use it as a way of avoiding confusion with her husband. If you'll notice other women in politics that don't have to worry about being confused with their husband are called by their last name. eg. Pelosi, Boxer, etc.

Personally I wouldn't vote for her but honestly she is the one that ppl relate to the most, she seems more approachable than those other candidates.

I believe is to differentiate. -- There are other names we could use too to "differentiate" her from the husband!
