I heard that a recent study in America said that the best way of disinfecting a used sponge is to pop it into the Microwave for 2 mins.
Is it true that all over America people were burning their sponges cause they didn't assume that the sponge had to be wet?

Well, sponges are cheap... I am still going to stick with buying more sponges..

LOL I don't use sponges, I use dish rags and wash them every day.

Probably has happened, but instead I think soaking it in bleach would work too. Or better yet, throw it away and use a new one.
