For absolutely no good reason whatsoever. I believe the courts decided to make an 'example' of Wilson to show the seriousness of statutory rape, but instead all they've advertised is injustice and the revival of archaic laws in Georgia. The law stated it was a misdemeanor for two students less than 3 years apart to have intercourse (because it's oh so much more acceptable when they're four or more years apart, it seems), but a FELONY for them to have oral sex. Although the laws changed after Wilson's conviction to include an oral sex clause, Wilson himself was not released because the law did not allow for retroactive cases to be revisited.

This is absolutely disgusting - a vision of American law at it's worst. I thank you for asking this question every day. The more people learn about it the more, perhaps, we can convince the Georgia lawmakers that Wilson's sentence should be overturned. This poor kid has already spent 2 years in jail for a law that no longer exists but was unfair and asinine in the first place - a law that should have been considered moot in this day and age. Georgia made a guinea pig of Wilson. Will we allow them to do the same to the rest of us, or will there be such a public outcry that the state government of Georgia is forced to overturn his sentence?

Anyone can start by filling out the following petition to have Wilson released:

Again, tooeasy, thank you. Without people like you keeping this case in the public eye, the travesty of justice done to Genarlow would never be known. You are the reason I found and signed the petition myself.

In intense college we study the fundamentals of economics, only understanding intense college economics doesnt recommend that im qualified to chat on the difficulty because there's a lot extra to it. You wouldnt take a intense college course in physics and then act like you're qualified to grant lectures on Quantum Mechanics or typical Relativity may you?

Because Georgia's state legislature is populated with nit wits. Also, I would not be surprised to find out that Genarlow Wilson's lawyer did a bad job or was otherwise negligent.

reason why laws like this pass is because kids are too young to become parents. this is to teach all those other irresponsible 15 year old boys and girls to control their hormones and reconsider the next time they think they know what 'i love you' really means.
