can you use a suncom simcard in a cingular phone?

i just got a used cingluar phone and it will not take my suncom simcard. it says "insert correct sim". is there any way to fix this?

NO it has to be either a cingular SIM card or the phone has to be unlocked to work with a differnet providers SIM card q
