I put all my CD's in CD holding binders instead, and now I have so many good CD jewel cases! Whats the best thing I shoud do with them ? I don't want to throw them out, but I also don't want to keep them, and I don't know who would want them.

If you have kids give the cases to them to bang around. It's funny what kids like to play with. I spend so much money on toys for my son only to find him out in the sandbox digging around with something that looks suspiciously like a piece of junk. Just an idea...

I am in this same predicament with my collection. I put my music and DVD each in a different binder, and now I have a BUNCH of cases. You can also store your computer software and CD ROM in a binder.
I am kind of torn because I like the liner notes and the cover design, I consider it part of the art package. What I ended up doing is:
music in one binder, the liner notes can go in the pocket with each disc and act as a placeholder so the disc ends up back in its proper place.
DVD in another binder, the actual movie only.
Special features DVDs go on an empty spindle from blank CDs to burn. I don't watch them more than once or twice but they are cool to keep. This saves space and protects them because the spindles have covers.
I store all the cases in a closet, they don't need to be super handy. When I have collected a few empty cases from new stuff, I get the box down and throw them in. They are not organized but they are neatly stacked to make the most space.
That's just my system...you are trying to get rid of them. You don't have to if you have room to store them. Maybe the problem is trying to keep them out in the open when you really should tuck them away.
If you don't plan to re-sell your cd's you can get rid of the empty jewel cases. If you want to keep a few to reuse for burned cd's or to think up a clever idea, then you can. I really like some of these other ideas for reusing them.
But you can throw the rest out. Everyone has their own collection that they don't know what to do with. It is unfortunate that this is so wasteful...maybe the CD people should start packaging them differently.
In the meantime, lets see...
You could glue 31 of them together open end up, label the edges with each number, and make a mail sorter. Stick your letters and bills inside the case on the day they need to hit the mailbox. Since you are not gluing the cases SHUT, it would open enough to get the mail in there...maybe you could mount them over something rounded so they stay opened a little.
You might do some research in the area of recycling, or arts and crafts for some uses. This has GOT to be a common dilemma for people.

I did the same thing with my CD collection Now when I make a cd for some one I just use one of the cases . You could put little recipes in them so they stay clean when you are cooking.

When I make people CD's for presents, I will reuse the empty CD cases and decorate them for the person I am giving the CD to....... they really seem to love the added touch! :)

If you don't want to keep them, but don't want to throw them away, give them to Goodwill. Or post them on craigslist and sell them. "Batch of empty jewel cases in good condition - $3"!
