to get it to work you'll need info from your email provider. for instance the incoming and outgoing email server. go to their site and read their faq

Well... The one that comes with XP is Outlook EXPRESS unless you ordered Microsoft Office. Outlook Express is all you really need for home use.

What is it exactly you're trying to do. Not all e-mails will work in Outlook Express. Example Yahoo e-mail will not work unless you pay for a Premier service - so you'll just spin your wheels.

Outlook Express will usually work with your PROVIDER e-mail - (i.,e. roadrunner).... You can go to your provider site and get their POP forwarding information. You then go to Outlook Express/Tools/Accounts and input that information in the right spaces.
