I had the same problem... but now I knit. And it;s so easy to learn that you don't need lessons. Starting out, go buy a loom like the one on the link below. You can get inexpensive ($10) ones at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, etc... it comes with all the tools you need. You'll just have to buy yarn. I promise, you will learn it in about 5 minutes and will be hooked. My 10 yr old daughter taught me. Its very therapeutic and not nerdy like I thought it was. There are so many fun yarns out there that your scarves will look like you bought them in trendy stores. Plus if you start your new hobby now, you'll have lots of scarves to give away as gifts during holiday season.

It ALL boils down to what kinds of things do you enjoy?
Music? - try purchasing a dj system and make your own mixes.
Movies? - go research fun facts about different movies you like
Dancing? - hit up different club once a week.
Cars? - build models, get into the rc cars and build a massive beast!, go check out nascar, carshows (those are super fun!), if you are in So. California - the Petersen's Automotive Museum is super fun! and inexpensive! or you can even go to the yunk yard buy a piece of sh*t and rebuild it from scratch! .... now that's a hobby! =)
Or.... you can always try fishing! - i've heard that it helps big time!

I love to knit, it is VERY therapeutic! Supposedly doing thing with your hands like that calms a person down. And for me it really does! Your local craft store probably can give you someknitting lessons, if you're interested.

anything you find joy in doing is therapeutic. my favorite calm down, can't think of anything else hobby is crochet. I love to scrapbook and bead. maybe you could try those or making soap in fabulous scents and then use your end results to relax...
