because
take s away from both sides giving
6s-12=0
then add 12 to both sides giving
6s=12
then divide both sides by 6, giving
s=2

1)add 12 to each side
7s=s+12
2)subtract s from each side
6s=12
3)divide by 6 to get s
s=2
