is there a book with the original XMEN story?

Question

i am looking for the original XMEN story as is was written by the comic artists, but i want it in the form of a book (hard cover or otherwise). has such a book ever been published or has XMEN only come out as a comic, as a cartoon and as a movie?

if i can buy it from ebay or amazon.com or whatever, can u guys let me know?

I don't think there was a book published - I just checked out the history of XMEN on the Wikipedia - free enclopedia & there doen't seem to be anything about a book on the original XMEN: Do go to the website- Wikipedia as there is so much information about XMEN.
The first xmen comic by MARVEL COMICS was published in 1960. CHECK OUT THE WEBSITE.

Its possible it could be under various names, though:

"The series was initially titled The X-Men from its inception in 1963 until 1981. The series added the adjective "Uncanny" to its cover treatment on an irregular basis beginning with issue #114 (Oct. 1978), and formally changed its title to The Uncanny X-Men with #142 (Feb. 1981) [1].

A new series titled simply X-Men launched in October 1991. From that point on, fans and historians began to designate pre-1981 issues as The X-Men Vol. 1 or, more commonly, The Uncanny X-Men. The article "The" was officially dropped from the title in 2002."
