No I have not, but it could be a thing carried over from when they were little. It is most likely a comfort mechanism they have and it is on a sub consious level so they may not know about it. If they were rocked to sleep when they were little it could be their own way of doing so.
I would not worry about it, if it helps them sleep then I say let it be.

I went through a phase of doing that a few years ago and im 22! It was simply a comfort thing, didnt last long.

I have a cousin who use to sleep like a frog. Imagine how a frog looks, yes she used to sleep that way, but she grew out it, it might jsut be a phase.

This behavior is usually seen in abused or highly undeveloped children. Insecurity can cause this also... probably needs to seek professional help.

well i used to sleep sitting up all nite when i was little, this just might be his way of comfeting himself, nothing to worry about!! and my little brother sleeps with his legs crossed while hes laying down to sleep, its just comferting

Sounds like the child may be doing something other then sleeping. Have you read "the joy of sex"? It discusses children sitting on their feet and rocking.
