I've heard that lighter skinned blacks look down on darker skinned blacks? Like - another form of racism within a race. Is that true?

It's not really racism as much as it is predjudice. As with all people, everyone wants to be above, on top, not the bottom. Just like white people calling other whites trailer trash. Even if they live paycheck to paycheck, rent an apartment and get food stamps, they are one above the trailer trash. It's the same everywhere. It's like a caste system.
It's been proven that lighter skinned people are treated better than darker skinned. While that's not the fault of the lighter skinned person, it makes it harder on the darker skinned.

Sure there is. As well as darker skinned blacks looking down upon blacks with a lighter skin tone.

Micheal Jackson would be the prime example, of a another form of black on black racism. He so disliked his own race, that he felt the need to bleach his skin, then swear that he has a "skin condition" that caused his skin color to lighten. Sad ... but true.

I would say no... black on black racism does not exist by sheer definition of the word racism. However, it is true that some lighter skinned blacks have taken on an attitude of superiority because of their complexion and generally they are treated better in mainstream society. It is a product of self-hatred, colonializatlion and slavery... i.e., intentional divisions were created on the basis of skin color by the "powers that be" long before any of us were even born and continue to permeate in society and in particular within the African American community. You see this phenomena in other communities of color as well. Good question.

Thats not such a big issue anymore (referring to skin complexion). Now its moreso about jealousy; its hard to see someone 'just like you' doing well and wonder why you can't get ahead. The history behind the skin complexion issue dates back to slavery. Lighter skinned slaves got to work in the house and the darker skinned ones outside. Most people in our generation (I say 'our' assuming that you're in your 20's as well) didn't know about that in grade school when we were forming our initial friendships. But the whole jealousy topic occurs in every race!

Possible.. b/c its human nature to find a way to create supremacy. If the blacks were powerful i.e in the situation of the white people 400/600 years ago, then the situation would have been exactly opposite of what you see now.

Supremacy is a human character.

there are countless distinctive cultures that attempt to look white and are ashamed of their roots. Asians women persons in maximum Asians international places do the very comparable ingredient, evaluate epidermis shade with one yet another, and the guy who's the main gentle is considered simply by fact the main beautiful. Mexicans, Latinos, East Indians, Blacks, and so on. all attempt to look white or think of they're extraordinarily whilst their epidermis is gentle and not darkish. relatively everyone has been molded and brainwashed via the media. they're too clueless to be sure that it stirs up variety between one's very own way of life. And the humorous ingredient approximately it relatively is that white women persons get tans to look brown, lip injections for great lips, and silicone butt implants for a booty. women persons are ridiculous. i'm happy to assert i'm no longer in that share of girls persons who hate their ethnic beneficial components.

Absolutely! Ghetto blacks HATE educated, well-mannered, articulate blacks. Especially if they're lighter skinned. Ever heard of "Uncle Tom"?

I have seen US blacks demonstrate quite a bit of racism towards Caribean blacks.

No it's not.
Why would I look down? I am constantly teased for being lightskinned. Even by my sisters.

Besides me being light skinned does not make me any better than another black person. It just means I can't share their make up.
