cos it's got a little internal battery that keeps the clock going but eventually it'll stop (mine did after about 7 years), so before I can do anything I have to reset time and date or the computer's files get confused. It'd be easier to put new one in of course but it's a palaver on an apple. If I've switched computer off but it's still plugged in then there's enough juice to keep the clock going without resetting time.

This can be caused by having your computer on for long periods of time, although it isn't usually off by more then a few minutes!

Right-click where it gives you the time on your desktop.
Select 'Adjust Date/Time' and correct the time manually.
You may want to make sure that you have your computer set to the correct time zone that you are in under the 'Time Zone' tab there.
You can also select the 'Internet Time' and have your computer synchronize the correct time with an on-line source regularly while on-line.
If you don't have the last option there, you may want to go to Microsoft's website and update your computer windows. They have an update for the Time so it synchronizes on-line.

It very well could be the battery, but I have had my computer for 2 years, and didn't have to change it yet. Double click on your clock, and then look to see if the time zone is set correctly..good luck..

That is wierd, there may be some type of batter on the motherboard, like a lithium type thing, but I am no expert. Your system could be hosting a cookie that is resetting the time for some reason or sometimes interacting programs can auto update your clock

This is usually caused by the cmos battery going bad, it's the big flat silver battery on the motherboard, you can get a new one at Radio Shack. It can also be caused by a virus or spyware/adware setting it back or changing your time zone so make sure to scan for both.

make sure you are using the correct time zone... when it does the automatic time check you might be in the wrong zone and it readjusts it for that. Thats why your minutes are staying correct

to fix it... double click on the clock... then click on the internet time tab

good luck

To fix the date and time, right click on the clock in your system tray, then select 'Adjust Date/Time', then make sure the correct time zone is selected and then adjust the time using the arrows on the bottom right.

You need to replace your CMOS battery. Its onboard of the motherboard, and its a CR2032, cost about 75 cents at walmart.
