There have been a few but the one that stands out has to be Peter Bonetti, if only for his performance in the 1970 World Cup against West Germany. Sorry Peter.

The whole squad Mclaren picked for the friendly against Spain on wednesday. Its the same old same old, the team picks itself no competition for places. Other National team managers pick players from lower leagues. I was listening to an interview on Talksport radio this morning with Steve Mclaren saying he really wants Preston to go up to the premiership so he can pick David Nugent for England. why cant he pick him anyway? Theres no rule to say he has to pick just premiership players.

In the 2006 world cup I think Frank Lampard. He made a havoc missing Goals in germany and as far as I have seen He always does that.

Paul Mariner was excellent - his goal in 1982 against Hungary got us in the World Cup in Spain. and he got 13 international goals in all.
The worst England player i remember was keith curle - completely out of his depth (albeit out of position) in Euro 92
Syd Owen was England's centre-back when they got hammered 7-1 by Hungary in 1954, so perhaps he should get the vote.

Im still young so I'm going on recent games, and I'd have to say Big Fat Frank Lampard. He's amazing with Chelski but he can't produce the same form for England. DROP HIM PLEASE. England's midfield should read somethiung like Haregraves, Gerrard, Lennon on the right, and maybe Cole (although I'd like to see Downing) on the left
