You should buy directly from the manufacturer as they come cheaper (and also in bulk) since there is no "middle man" (retailer) making profit in the middle. So my suggestion buy new parts from Intel, Western Digital, LG, GigaBytes and other parts manufacturer.

NEWEGG.COM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... Welcome to the world of computer building! The first step is deciding what kind of pc you want to build. A sweet gaming system, a high end performance machine, or an everyday web surfer. This will be the biggest factor when it comes to choosing the capabilities of your parts. Since this is your first build, you should start on a everyday computer, nothing spectacular. When choosing your mobo (motherboard) size, choose an ATX. Also choose a mobo with integrated graphics. So you won't have to worry about a GPU. You need no more than 4gb of DDR2 RAM. Settle with a relatively inexpensive Intel duel core CPU. (INTEL IS THE CPU OF CHOICE OF PROFESSIONAL PC BUILDERS) Your power supply needs to be only about 400watts. And just choose a cheap dvd drive. (make sure its SATA!!) Harddrive: make sure it is SATA and a 3.5 inch form factor. Now the best thing about computer that you build yourself is that you can upgrade them more than factory built computers. Maybe a few years from now you decide to up your RAM to 6gb, but only if your mobo supports it. Building a PC is easy. just take advise from us experienced builders and keep asking questions. Best of luck and don't hesitate to contact me if you have another question.
