I don't believe that Bruce Springsteen ever sang that song. I remember him saying in an interview once that when he writes songs for other people he never sings them. Manfred Mann made it a hit but Bruce Springsteen wrote it.

I agree with you, it's a great song! But just about all of the Bosses songs are!!
This song was introduced on Bruce Springsteen's album "Greetings from Ashbury Park, N.J." in 1973. Manfred Mann did it in 1977.

Everyone is so used to Manfred Man's version that not a lot of people knew that Springsteen was the one who originally did the song and wrote it. Personally I like it more because it doesn't have that over-produced sound and has more feel to it.

I haven`t listened to that song but I like many of Bruce Springsteen`s songs , especially the album (( Born In The USA )) which I really love .

I've not heard his version, just the one by Manfredd Mann's Earth Band which is one of those songs that reminds me of being a little kid and i like it for that!
