I think Shawn Michaels always has the best fights. Kurt Angle in Wrestlemania 21, His first Ladder match, Undertaker in that casket match, Vince in WM 22, and one of the all time best matches, Bret Hart in the Iron Man match.
He was also the best part of the team Stone cold vs team Bishof. He has great electricity.

i think the undertaker look at the type of matches hes done casket hell in a cell buried alive hes 14-0 at wrestlemania when people fight the undertaker he brings there best ouf of them just look at the people hes defeated shawn michaels bret hart stonecold steve austin kane hulk hogan the list is endless

You have to believe that Chris Benoit wrestles the best pure matches. Do you ever see him with a chair or using his belt? No, you don't. The guy wrestles the way wrestling is supposed to be done, minimal or no flying and straight up beting you with mat techniques and plain and simple by being the better wrestler. Benoit trained under and wrestled beside guys like Bret Hart and Curt Hennig aka "Mr. Perfect." Benoit shows that the art of wrestling is still alive. If this was 10 years ago, Hands down Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect, they helped design mat wrestling for guys like Benoit.

I totally agree, but I have to say that in the consistency department, I've gotta say no to Shawn Michaels, and yes to these guys:
-Chris Benoit
-Dean Malenko
-Eddie Gurrero
in the early '90s these three guys put on some of the highest quality matches possible in ECW and WCW. Shawn may have a handful of mind-blowing matches, but these guys were a guarantee that you'd see a five-star match.

I'm guessing that pure match means two combatents step into the ring and square off with no outside interference, no garbage cans, pesky managers, etc...
Just for pure wrestling, you've got to give it to Bret Hart. Great technical wrestler. I suppose you could throw Benoit and Angle in there with him, but Bret had the "cool" look, skill, grit, championship belts, and incredible testicular fortitude to actually punch Vince right in the face...not a fake set up...an actual "kiss my *ss punch when he left the WWF for the WCW.

Best match was when Orton bet Benoit( when he was at his prime) back in Wrsetle Mania without Evolution's help & he is sooo cute.

I would also say HBK becuz he never quits in any of his matches. Handicap,title matches you name it HBK will win it with passion.
Maybe Rey Mysterio becuz he has a height disadvantage in every match
