AbSINtHe eNtertaiNmeNt...
Isopropyl alcohol does burn.
It burns really sweet.
The main reason its hard to light is because of the water content.
Its one of the freakin sweetest flammable available at an average home.

does it not spark, or not light. Rubbing alcohol has a very low volatiliyty (abilty to light) Rubbing alcohol comes in different strengths and none of them are pure alchol. It also contains water which is probably why your lighter isn't working. If you want to keep the lighter you should put the lighter's inside in a small container and cover with lighter fluid. The alcohol and waterbase will be replaced by the L. fluid. Let it set overnight. Next morning take it out and let the excess fluid drain out before you try lighting it.

Replace the flint. Let the alcohol evaporate from the padding. Use lighter fluid (which is naphtha).

It doesn't work because you are an IDIOT for filling it with rubbing alcohol. Contrary to all popular legends cologne and isopropyl alcohol will not work. Just let it dry out and buy real Zippo fluid!

Try replacing the flint. My grandfather said that he used to fill his up with gasoline when he was in the war.

and, durrrrh, you've answered your own question.

Whatever possessed you to fill a lighter with rubbing alcohol… were you drinking it at the time?

wait until it dries and see if it works. if not you will have to replace the flint, but i think they are pretty cheap.
