If you smoke a different brand why do you prefer that band over others?
I'm not a cigerette company, I just want to understand this

I think maybe it would be odd for someone to buy cigarettes outside of their "racial preference", so people go for what they know. Like a white guy might get funny looks if he goes to the gas station asking for a pack of Newports. And vice versa. I mean, smoking is a peer pressure thing anyway - I think that peer pressure could go into what exactly is being smoked, as well.

First, let me comment on your question - you have made an absolute statement. "all blacks smoke Newports and all whites smoke Marlboro". In order for that to be true, you would have to personally know ALL black and white people in the entire world.

Now to answer the question of preferred brand of cigerettes. I used to smoke Virginia Slims (SuperSlims) - these are also the one's my grand mother smoked. My mother smokes GPC (Fullflavor), my father Basic (Ultra-lights), brother Winston (all brands), sister Camel (Turkish Gold), and my sister-in-law More (Menthol White Lights).

Don't know why all the other smokers in my family choose the brands we each have, but I can tell you that we never switch. No matter the price of a carton - we continue to smoke these specific brands.

They don't. I'm white and I always smoked Newports. And I know a lot of white people that smoke Newports. Newports are menthol and most Marlboro's are not. Although they do have some but they're not as strong as Newports. It all depends on what the smoker wants and likes.

I used to smoke menthols, until every black friend I had bummed all my cigarettes each week...Some say it's a stereotype, but I've noticed it too...Menthols are a lot stronger in taste than regular cigarettes, and they tend to make your breath smell a little better than Marlboros, but I don't know if this is the difference or not...I smoke Marlboros because they have enough nicotine to keep me over for a few hours and they're cheaper than Capris, which is actually the brand I prefer, but they're expensive...I'm gonna go smoke

It determines what an individuals taste palette craves with some social and/or demographic trends applied. That might be an interesting subject for scientist to research. Could this be genetic, who knows?

I thought white people smoked Marlboro's & black people smoked Newport's.

They even have the aisles in the grocery store marked....

white people....black people so they won't have to look around needlessly.

Sorry....couldn't resist.

BRAINWASHING !!!

New ports are advertised in most black neighborhoods, and is easily obtained since retailers provide them on a constant basis

Marlboro's are advertised in most white neighborhoods.

I've observed the ad's, since I moved around alot as a kid in New York.
