If you go back further there were many victories in individual battles. One thing that struck me when studying Indian History was how I had mostly learned before that a bout the indians of the late 1800s when there were hundreds of years of history before this

Everyone who speaks before speaks without forked tongue.
Nonetheless. the Ketterman massacre by Red Cloud is the most interesting When Ketterman rode out in command of 70 troopers in 1868 it was precisely against his commander, Lt Col Carrington's, orders. He was to ride out to rescue troopers cutting wood for the fort, but Carrington told him never to cross the ridgeline. A day later, 70 dead troopers were found on the other side of the ridgeline, plus two white scouts with Henry repeating rifles, surrounded by spent shells. No one knows how many warriors died during that skirmish, but all of the US troops did..
I can only say that two months later US troops were told to close the Laramie Trail. Interestingly enough, Ketterman had been quoted a few months before as saying "With 70 troopers I can ride through the whole Sioux nation".

Dude have you forgotten the Seminoles. You know they live in the Everglades on their "reservation." Yeah the U.S. Army couldn't beat them so the Govt. designated THEIR land as their Reservation.

Remember the Little Big Horn? That's where Custer said, "Stay the course, men! Don't cut and run! If we don't fight the Indians here, we'll have to fight them in the streets of Chicago!"
