You can try opening the computer and reseating the memory chip or chips. If this just happened suddenly you could have a bad memory chip, though that isn't a likely thing as they are pretty reliable. If you can get to your desktop go into task manager and see if it shows your memory. Also try right clicking on My Computer and then click properties. The general page should show the amount of memory you have.

Is this a new problem that just started? Does it happen when you first try to boot the machine? Maybe you moved the computer and jarred the memory sticks loose and they need to be re-eated into their slots. That's what I'd try first.
