Hands down the NBA way more physical, more words exchanged, more intensity. The NHL tried to be the NBA but will soon go out of business.

How do you describe physical? If a NBA player hits another player it is a foul. If a NHL player hits another it is usually a CHECK and LEGAL. That is PHYSICAL to me. So the NBA isn't even close. Compare running to skating with a stick. As to saying about dribbling then look at controlling the puck. The NHL is clearly the more physical sport.

The NHL will always be the more physical sport, now matter what Buttman does. 10 years back and even the most die-hard NBA fans would give it to the NHL. But as of recently, it is up for more of a debate, but still goes to hockey.

Im gonna have to say NHL, even though Carmello plays bball. Any sport that allows you to throw someone else into a wall and not get punished is one physical sport. BBall can get rough, but if so, theres consequences. In hockey, you can punch somebody whenever you want and only get sent to the penalty box for a few minutes. In NBA, u get around a 30 game suspension.

The NHL for sure. Maybe the Knicks back in the Charles Oakley days had a bit of a hockey mentality, but NBA players look silly when they try and scrap otherwise. Like Carmello? LOL.

N H L by far...although with the new rules many people would have to say that is questionable...

I also feel you have to be stronger and have more endurance to play a game of hockey than you would playing basketball. Skating around (at a pretty fast pace mind you)/ geting hit pretty hard for three periods of 20 minutes seems a bit rougher playing on hard wood floor, running back and forth for 4 15 minute quarters...and i don't mean to take away from basketball as I enjoy watching both sports

Can you picture an NHL player shooting hoops? YES.
Can you picture an NBA player on skates? NO
Have you seen NBA players fight? Pathetic
Have you seen NHLplayers fight? Scary
NBA players run down court and throw a basketball into an unprotected hoop, NHL players must skate 200 feet passing 5 guys trying to remove you from a puck (hitting is allowed) and then trying to beat a goalie whos sole responsiblity is to prevent you from scoring...get the point?

NHL by a long shot. But it really doesn't matter - both sports were invented in Canada

NHL, no contest. Basketball players would be sent home crying to mama if hit as hard as NHL players are in every game!!

20 years a go I would have laughed at this question, with hockey being so physically demanding and gritty.
Now-a-days I'm not so sure
To make hockey the exciting sport it used to be, I think the rules have to be changed back to where they were 20 years ago
That and lose the overpaid "hockey-gods"
I'm sure Disney on Ice would hire Forsberg
There he would get plenty of sympathy because his skate didn't fit right
