Well, seriously. Here we go, lecture # 1.

1) when liquid are in a gas state, it's likely that the pressure is very high and the temperature is very high and the gaseous state is highly volatile and very active on the molecular level.
2) In order for gas to change from gaseous state to liquid state, you have to lower the pressure. Therefore you do this by lower the temperature of your gas container.
3) In doing so, gas becomes less volatile and they're moving about less frequently and the inner works or in the molecular feature of it is less active.
4) when this occurs, the gaseous state is said to be condensing.
when you lower the pressure more and more by lowering the temperature. You are cooling of the gas, and when it start condensing more of it, it starts to accumulate on the wall surface and eventually, gas in a condensation stage gains more molecular weight, and starts to fall to the bottom of the container due to gravitational force.

In conclusion, this is how gas state change to liquid state and the process reverses when you want to change liquid to gas. Remember, from liquid state you then more on to a solid state. That's why when you see metal melt, you can imagine that a solid is turning into liquid because you apply tons amount of heat to it. By the time you have enough heat applied to that liquid metal, you're in effect causing whats called a plasma state where that liquid metal turns into gaseous state. Good enough, yes?

Here's another one, which is related to your question. Which would you rather put your hand in, boiling water at 100C or steam at 100C?

The answer is that steam causes much more damage, because it condenses on you, giving you that much more heat energy than just the boiling water. This is a demonstration of the fact that condensation is exothermic, too.
