I have a program on my desktop that I would like to have on my laptop. How can I send that program to my laptop so I can install it?

Depending on the program, you may be able to just copy it over as you would any other file (this is true of most Mac OS X software, for example). However, some programs install files in lots of different places, so it may be safer to just install the program from scratch on your laptop rather than trying to copy it.

several ways you can: (1) you can hook them together with a usb cable, then copy it over. (2) if it's a small program, attach it to your email, open the email from your laptop, and run it. (3) copy it to a cd then run it on the lap top.

Most programs have hidden files, so simple copying may not work for you. You'll have to find the hidden files. It's simpler to get your original copy of the program and launch that in your laptop.

If you are more adventurous, you can try establish a network between your desktop and laptop.

You will have to have the CD, DVD, Floppy disc or flash drive with the program on it to install on the laptop. You can't just copy it over. If there are files this program creates, like movies, songs, documents etc, once it is installed on the laptop you can transfer those files to the laptop.

Ever hear of file-sharing or workgroups?

If they are connected somehow via an ethernet cable and you have used the network setup wizard and they belong to the same workgroup (different computer names i.e. desktop / laptop ) then just drop the file in the other computers shared folder.

If you're on a home network, it's just drag & drop..... if not, then the easiest way is to spent a couple of dollars on a flash drive and copy the file to it. Thumbdrives or flashdrives are a great investment and you'll use it more than you think - especially if you're not on a home network.
