I have stupidly oily/combination skin, first thing in the morning its oily, wash it and it goes really dry & peels, and about an hour or two later my face is shiny again!

I've found the best things that have worked for me is a whole skin care routine.

* for a face wash i usually use either clinique or philosphy, if im having a cheap month then its clearasil.

*For a toner i use clinique, however I've found any toner that is designed for oily skin works fine,

* Moisturiser wise, anything that doesnt contain oil is a key factor! Most brands have a range for oily skin, so theres quite a vast range, if you can afford to, spend £20+ on a good oil free moisturiser

*Use a primer, most help prevent shine coming through and help keep your foundation on! Templa Spa sell a product called Moisture Matt, which is a moisturiser/primer...and its fab, bout £15. Boots No.7 sell a primer @ £9, but if you can splash out get Laura Merciers for £27.

*ok foundations....I've tried loads, my make-up bag is full of half empty bottles, the best I've found (that actually work and dont slide off after an hour or so)

- Maybelline Dream Matt Mouse £6.99

*dont use - Boots 17 or Rimmel (cheap yes, doesnt last 5 minutes)

* get a good pressed powder

I have the same problem as you and I have just recently found the answer to my problem mineral make up the product I use is not available in the shops it can be found on the Internet by typing in mineral make up in to your search engine there is also a great range of this on eBay simply type in mineral make up kit in the search box.

Mineral make up is completely natural with no harmful ingredients it is actually good for your skin and you don't know you are wearing it it comes in powder form and works with the oils in your skin it won't cake or look like a mask just completely natural.

If you suffer from spots it has natural anti-inflammatory to help your condition and is great for camouflage too.

I had oily hair and skin for most of my life till I took a barbering course and learned about the causes of hair and skin oils.
In your skin you have what is called a sebacious gland. This gland produces and controls your body oils. ( note: oily hair is the by-product of oily skin on the head ). Oils help protect the body.
People with oily skin, have over productive sebacious glands producing more sebum ( oil ) then is needed. Most people with oily scalps have dandruff created by the oils lifting dead skin at a faster rate then normal.
Solution- For oily scalps and for those with dandruff, use Head and Shoulder Shampoo. It contains zink and other ingredients to keep oils and dandruff in check. A conditioner without oil ingredients can be used afterwards. Stay away from soaps that contain perfumes and oils. I have used Zest or Dial Up and my skin cleared up very quickly. Now, most impotantly, you are what you eat. Diet is by far the most important. Foods with oils and grease excelerate oil production in the glands. I found chips
( packaged) and burgers were the worse. Stay on a non-greasy or oily diet and your oils will stay under control. Drink lots of water and non-sugar fruit juice with a supplement of vitamin c to cleanse the body and build up a healthy immune system. Regular bowl movements are also very imprtant to rid the body of garbage. If the garbage is not gotten rid of in it's proper form, It will find the weakest spot in the body to come out causing boils and etc..For men, I recomment shaving with antibacterial liqiud soap. This will clear up blemishes very quickly and make your skin feel very soft.
Just lather it up on your face like shaving cream and shave. Wash off with warm water then cold water to close the pores and you will feel great all day.
Blemishes are caused by bacteria getting into your hair follicles and sebacious glands. Antibacterial soap kills the bacteria. Also, black heads are the result of oil buildup in the sebacious glands. When oxygen from the air makes contact with this oil in the pores of the skin, it turns the oil black. It is not dirt but dried oil in the pores. This is also a great place for bacteria to accumalte and infect the skin causing pimples etc......
Remember that anything you put on your skin can and will clog up your pores and give bacteria a place to grow. There is no safe foundation for the skin. If you have an oil problem and must use a foundation and make ups, wash often with antibacterial liqiud soap.

I have oily skin and I use Neutrogena SkinClearing makeup, which contains salicylic acid (an acne medicine). They have foundations in lots of tones, and they also make a powder.

I use prescriptives custom blend but if I want a really matt finish, I put 'on a clear day' underneath it. Its absolutely brilliant but I do tend to only use it when I'm going somewhere special....
I can't remember who it's by but you can get it at Space NK and John Lewis
