I just got my Real Estate License in New York and I was curious to know if I now have a title, and if so, what it is...

Real Estate Licensee, the very second you obtain your license.

Realtor, if you join the NAR, otherwise you aren't

Real Estate Agent, if you place your license with a Broker and plan to sell real estate.

Real Estate Broker, if you got a brokers license.

Associate Broker, if you place your brokers license under another broker.

Of course all of those sound nice. But the title most people give us is "PIA" pain in the a**.

best of luck,

Real Estate Agent. You have to be a member of the national association of REALTORS to be called a REALTOR.

Mr. "John Smith", real estate agent

Realtor is a special designation for members of the Multiple Listing Service - not to be used by newly licensed agents.

Hope that helps!
