Sorry for the BAD news.
Breast implants are not safe at any age and certainly not for those in their 40's and 50's. Women of this age are going through Menopause and that is bad enought than having auto-immune problems from implants. A womans body goes through over 10,000 changes during menopause. The body is in turmoil and only herbs and supplements can help a woman feel normal. Why add the turmoil of having a foreign body under your skin?

Saline implants are better than silicone since if they leak they allow salt solution to enter the body cavity instead of chemicals.
But these solutions are put into a sack and inserted between the breast muscles and the skin. This is a foreign object that the body knows should not be present. The body is always trying to fight this foreign invader off. It build its immune system and attacks this object. It is like a battle that is never won as long as the sack is inside the body. It is just like getting a sliver in your finger. Your antibodies attack it to get it out. It builds up puss to push the offender from the wound. The sliver is foreign and does not belong there. If the sliver never comes out infection can occur. Having a breast implant is similar. It can destroy your auto-immune system and then the whole endocrinology system.

Breast implants just are not worth it. Why ruin your health for your looks? I would rather lose both breasts and be flat than go through all the suffering down the road. My neice had implants about 5 years ago and she is 32. She now suffers from terrible problems with her endocrinology system and is so messed up it affects her moods too. She is totally a different person, and her happiness is gone.

Breast implants are NEVER safe.

This entirely depends on the individual. I'm sure you've seen some women in their 50's that look 30, and some women in their 30's that look 50. I'm sure you've seen 50 year olds running 25 mile marathons, and well . . . You get the idea.

What the real issue here is, is how well can your body take a surgery? How well can it recover from surgery? That would be something that I would reccomend be discussed with one's regular physician. I would make sure the normal doctor gives a green light before discussing anything with the surgeon and THEN get the surgeon's opinion. Surgeons often have a funny way to always say yes to surgery, heh.

No.

I am over 40 and I would NEVER consider breast implants. They can leak and cause medical problems later.

Nobody in their right mind would get those dangerous things. There are safer ways to get bigger boobs.

It can be done but it's not advisable at that age.
Besides, the breasts don't make the woman.
Be happy with yourself as you are.
