the toilet flushes fine but there is not enough water left in the bowl after the cycle is completed

There's not a way to adjust that. However, there's a little tube in the tank that goes down a pipe into the bowl when the tank's refilling. If that tube is going into the tank instead of that tube to the bowl, then your bowl won't refill while the tank's refilling. Check that little tube.

There should be a waterline marked inside the cistern. It is a short line marked in the eathenware on the wall side. keep it at this level and it should be okay.You should find an adjustment somewhere on the ballvalve, either a screw or a tiny lever.
