What is the best way to save your I.E. "Favorites" either offline or on a host site?

I am planning to move and I am leaving the old computer behind that has WIndows XP installed, and I want to know which is the best and easiest way to save my FAVORITES list since my list is so huge! I have heard there are some online sites where you can somehow save the favorites to, and I understand there is some way to save just the list on my own.

Your help is appreciated!

Just copy the "Favorites" folder onto a floppy, USB drive or a CD.
It's that simple.

Then copy the contents into the Favorites folder on your new PC.
Copy & paste ... just like you would for any other file.

Location of Favorites directory (& its contents).

C:\Documents and Settings\*** YOUR USER NAME ***\Favorites

A USB flash drive is best due to the long filename format not supported in some CD structures ( a link may sometimes be over 255 characters).

favorites are just internet shortcuts stored in a variant of the following path:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Favorites

where [username] is either All Users or your XP username. to find out exactly, drop down your favorites list from IE, right-click any favorite icon, and select properties. from the properties window, select the General tab and the path is shown near the top in Location. just highlight the path, copy it, and paste it into a folder window address bar to go directly to that folder. all you have to do then is select all the favorites you want and drag them to where you want to copy them.

Here is a sneaky way of doing it... send a copy of your FAVORITES folder to yourself in email, that way when you get a new computer you can put them on it or save them in a different folder. That also helps if you want to keep people from going into your FAVORITES if they are on your computer
