not very. The media blows things out of proportion in order to make profit. If it bleeds it leads.
I have numerous articles that never got published because they weren't gory enough. Those are the more heart wrenching ones with the soldiers actually doing good. But hey who wants to see that, when they can think the worst.

Do you've any idea how a lot rigidity is contained in the jobs of those human beings you're speaking about that resigned, stop, or were fired? it is no longer fairly a lot dealing with the war, it is about dealing with the media, politics, and public reaction also. i imagine the media has lots to do with human beings's feeling in route of the war. All they coach is the bombings of the day over there. Why wasn't there a lot suggested about Saddam's execution in the previous and as a lot because the day he change into hung? there change into a great number of insurance after that video surfaced on the information superhighway. additionally they lined the actual undeniable actuality that violence ought to boost in results of that video. no longer something extra. Why do not they coach the vast majority of average Iraqis that are satisfied our troops intervened? the vast majority of Iraqis that put off indicators conserving "thanks us of a"? each and every of the Media comments are the attacks that are finished with assistance from small communities of Iraqis. the majority favor peace. The media would not conceal that. I actually have 2 uncles which have served 2 words a peice in Iraq. I actually have 2 cousins who've served in Iraq besides. Plus my lady friend's brother is serving in Iraq. they're all marines. they have all been greeted with assistance from voters of Iraq. those they're scuffling with are a small minority. And many of the time those minorities are attacking eachother , no longer our squaddies. I desire the media wasn't the way they're, yet there is no longer something absolutely everyone can do about this. All i am hoping for is the safe practices of our squaddies and a victory in Iraq and the war on terror.

The media is doing a fair-to-middling good job. They have, in fact, been very even-handed. The claims by the right of "liberal bias" and the claims of the left of "conservative bias" mostly amount to one side or the other hearing something they don't want to hear.
In other words--pretty much the same as its been for the 200+ years we've had the good fortune to have a free press.
As for getting the truth--you aren't going to get the absolute whole truth because the media aren't perfect--and they often deal with stories where the actors do their best to conceal the truth. The best any of us can do is to take the trouble of listenenig to different perspectives with an open mind--and try to be fair in the judgements we make.

You are going to have to do some work if you want the truth. Use mulitple news sources. Don't assume that just because someone is a member of your political party or your country or seems to know what they are talking about that they are actually telling you the truth. I have seen American news . . .most of it seems mainly opinions and analysis of opinons and opinions on the analysis of the opinions . . . with a lot of repetition to make ou think that whatever they are saying is important. people accept it because they are lazy. use your common sense, and remember now there are blog so that you can actually go to the horse's mouth so to speak and see what the people around the world have to say. For example, if you listen to CNN you hear lots of opiniopns on what should be done . . . but what is missing? how about the *opinions of the typical Iraqi citizen?* What do *they* want or think? You just don't hear about it.Same with any other issue. Just ask Richard Jewell.

Your right, according to the returning troops, the news we get is just opposite of what is happening over there, the media doesn't focus on the good we're doing for the majority of the people of Iraq, like the schools being built, hospitals, actual freedom for the first time in their life, the right to vote for their leaders.
I believe you could get more accurate news from North Korea or Iran TV, than from the American media

We all deserve to know the truth, no doubt about it.
Unfortunately, we, who live in America have to put up with
"managed news" done by spin control by your friendly
government-media complex people, who have let themselves be
brainwashed by a few in control of the many.
I'll break that down:
You have the big conglomerate communications giants,AOL- Time-Warner, Rupert Murdock's Fox conglomerate, Sony,
Viacom, to name a few, they all have news divisions, and are
under strict control to only publish "the news" after all current
incoming news has been carefully edited.
Why do you think there were no tapes showing the be-heading of
Nick Berg, or the other atrocities committed by the Islamo-fascists-Marxists radicals (jihadists-radicals) ?
Because all the news heads were told it would not be politically correct to show those atrocious tapes.
Same with 9/11, the attack on the World Trade Center, none of our TV commercial networks (MSNBC, CNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC,
FOX, Reuters, the Associated Press, the United Press)
CNN, were all
told not to release any photos that shown stranded people jumping out from the higher floors of both the north tower and the south tower.
I have only seen one photo like that.
Getting back to Iraq's news coverage, I think our government
and our mainstream media (MSM) have an agreement that
all of our MSM will sanitize all media coming out of the war torn
areas of Iraq, before submission to the public for general
consumption.
This practice may not effect all stills and tapes taken over there,
during or after any urban skirmishes, depends on the unit
editor, and what he releases for their version of the news.
If you happen to be a combat cameraman (sometimes USMC
combat units carry embedded journalists with them) these
guys are usually pretty close to the truth, on what actually happened, during any given conflict period.
So the ones to take issue with are the news managers and their
bosses.
Also you might keep in mind, why is it that the USA who has a
2 trillion dollar weapons arsensal (air, land and sea) cannot
bring to an end armed conflict in the Middle East??
The real question is why does President Bush allow this
undeclared war to proliferate?
We have the knock out power to bring all of the jihadists-radicals
to their knees and have them pray to Allah that they are well prepared to meet their maker, that type of offense is the only
thing they respect if you live in the western hemisphere.
My guess is the continuation of the proposals and funding of
construction contracts, for Iraqi hospitals, schools, libraries,
churches, restaurants, government headquarters(city hall)
that will all cost billions of dollars and companies like Halliburton,
Bechtel Corporation, Fleur-Utah will be standing by waiting to
get the green light to begin the re-building phase of the
democratization of Iraq.
Thats it in a nutshell, oh yes, lets not forget OPEC(the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) who control the
export of the sweet crude oil, mostly coming from the Saudi-
American oil fields, and they take full advantage of charging all
it's customers top dollar for delivery to the refineries for us
to be able to get our gasoline at the pump.
This is a definite control factor, that all the participating allied
countries vie for, and causes further complexities in the oil
business and their (Arab) religious differences.
Thats my message, good luck.

You are being told half the story. News is only good if it is bad.
Here are two news stories that I was PERSONALLY involved in that hasn't made the national media because it's good news and not bad news....

I hate the fact that the media won't tell you guys what is really going on here. I bet 90% of all the bad stuff that happens in Iraq all happens in a 50 square mile area of Baghdad. The rest of the country is moving along.

According to the people that are over there the media is defiantly not telling the whole truth but are only telling what they want in order to justify their liberal agenda.

All you need to do is compare Iraq to the battle of IWO JIMA in WW2 to understand what a twisted view you are getting.
DARFUR is a civil war, but the press and the libs want us in it.
