I had mine done a few years ago and it doesn't hurt. My friend got hers done at the same time and place as me and hers got infected mine didn't so i'd say if the place is properly licenced and is clean go for it. You will need to clean it properly but they will tell you about that. One thing to think about is if you plan on having kids cause when I got pregnant I had to take mine out and it stretched now i've got the two little scars and it looks ugly!

First off, you must have it done by a professional in body piercing. Don't ever try to do it yourself. It's a dangerous area to pierce compared to other body parts and is prone to infection and rejection.

You need to make sure to use antibacterial ointment for the first three days and soak it in sea salt several times a day. You can soak cotton balls and a sea salt/warm water solution and lay down while you soak your piercing. Make sure your hands are clean and you rotate the ring so it doesn't get stuck and skin starts growing over the ring.

Whatever you do make sure you don't snag it on clothing. You can tear the piercing and increase the risk of infection and migration.

If you feel any signs of infection such as redness, puss, or a hard mass (generally due to the growth of scar tissue) you need to consult your piercer ASAP. Have them evaluate it and see if you need to have it removed.

This old gal can tell you a bit about piercing. I have had many in my day and still have a few I love. None on my face however, the one in my nose fell out in Dubai and I was sweating so much I could not be bothered to look for it. All the rest are hidden. LOL you never know what even a grandmother has going on beneath her clothing! Best not to ask, I might add. Since all my piercings were for spiritual purposes I have never felt a need to show them off on my face.

Of course the piercing hurts when it is done! They are sticking a needle through your flesh. The good news is the pain passes very quickly. A good piercer will talk you through the procedure. You are well aware of what to expect each step of the way.
Beyond a few little ouchie throbs after you are pierced, you should not have pain. If you do it is the sign something is wrong. There is no problem with piercing your navel. Just keep it very clean with a q-tip and a drop of warm water and follow the piercer's aftercare instructions to the minute. Do not try to replace it with something prettier until you know it is thoroughly healed. Personally, I felt the pain of my piercings was part of the thrill and I enjoyed it as part of the process.

Remember to move the fitting around and rotate it a few times a day so that it heals well. You do not want the wound healing tight to the fitting. I found, if there was a bit of crud in the wound, this was best dealt with at the tail end of my shower or bath by running fresh warm water aimed at it. No soap. Ever. By that point moisture has usually softened the scab and the fresh running water cleanses the wound. At that time you can rotate the piercing with little problem. Make sure this is the first part of your body you PAT dry with a fresh clean towel to also prevent infection.

There should be no infection if you keep it clean and the piercer uses QUALITY fittings. That is something that cannot be stressed enough. Only the best quality fittings. Almost all problems I have seen come from poor work or poor quality fittings. Not all jewellery is equal and some piercers have been known to use lesser quality. This I know from experience, I had an infected piercing that would not heal for two years. I obeyed the guidelines of the piercer and spoke to him often. I mentioned this to a friend who had grown up with piercing and he told me it was the quality of the fitting, not me or my care. Disgusted, I went to another piercer who used a microscope and showed me the problem. In the invisible cracks of the fittings were bits of crud. A pair of good Wildcat fittings and I was fine. I later found that my first piercer had a very bad rep for such using cheap fittings.

I also found, it is not good to use too much polysporin on a wound. The only time I used it was if the piercing was out and I was nervous about sliding it back in. Dab a bit at the hole then slide it in. Makes it easier and keeps it healthy. Cleanliness and moving it about are all you need to heal nicely. And exposure to some fresh air. You might also find you want to wear pants or skirts that do not rub that area of your body so that there is no catching or rubbing that can cause irritation.

And no it cannot cause anything bad unless your parents decide to spank you for it! LOL. I have never heard of a belly button piercing having complications if these guidelines are followed. Tongue, yes. The piercer I mentioned did my daughter's tongue and we had to have a surgeon cut it out he did so badly. Nevertheless, she went to my new piercer and had it redone and never had a problem.

By the way, a good piercer will NOT pierce you if he foresees possible problems down the line. The one I trusted refused to do it. We were all ready, I was in the zone but when he went to do it, he found there was somethng wrong with my mouth. I went to a trendy piercer and he could do it of course. Needless to say, I did not have it done, I was just testing his ethics.

A good piercer will also insist on PARENTAL CONSENT, usually written if you are under the legal age of your state or province.

So Barbara’s Rules for Successful Piercing are as follows:

Parental Consent

Reputable piercer

Top quality fittings

Rotation and cleanliness

HAPPY GIRL WITH PRETTIER TUMMY!

If there are any complications you find, like pus or so on, see your doctor who will most likely advise removal. However, great cleanliness and rotation and protection from damage should guarantee you no problems. Every step I have given is crucial for success.

My daughters wanted to get tattoos and pressured me a lot. Somehow I steered them to body piercing instead. This way they can just pull it out when they are bored; it will grow in fine. This way my girls were as "individual" as every other teen girl with a pierced tongue and navel. And they have no ugly tats to regret in the future.

I hope this helps! Enjoy yourself.

yes ii'm 15 & got a reallyy bad infection that hit 6 months after getting mine pierced..it got a hard red bump &* rejected it, ii now have an ugly scar and went to go see if i could get it again only with a better ring cause that's what i thiugh caused the infection but it turned out it was becuase the shape of my belly button was wrong so when i lie'd down it would stretch & push the ring out..
He wouldn't repierce it cause it would just happen again so..

go look in the mirror mat the top of your belly button.& the shape if it is oval like and alot of skin then you can get it but if it is pointed like a triangle even in the least bit ii wouldn't get it bc you just end up with a big ugly scar & no belly ring

hope this helps

Pay a professional. Because if you try it yourself you can hit a nerve and get nerve damage or if you're using equipment that isn't sterilized properly you will get an infection. Then get ready to spend 300 bucks on pills to get rid of said infection.

I cannot believe you spelled piercing like that......you are obviously too young to do such a thing. If you can't spell it, don't do it I always say.
