gandolf is wrong there is a fruit cocktail tree it is a peach seedling that is budded with assorted fruit on each limb i am a person that makes these trees they are also 5 in one which can be 5 different types of peaches on 1 tree also we do apples main reason on the shipping is most trees that are shipped must be dipped before entering the state some trees you cannot dip the root ball there for there not allowed pear trees cannot go to california without being dipped and they have to have papers to prove it nursery woman in tennessee

Some times it's the area of origin, The seller "Might" have a problem with a disease or insect. The DNR tries to control it.

Or the seller won't pay for a phytosanitary certificate and inspection.

Just 1 example, the Med Fruitfly cost CA tax payers over $1 billion a year

California has weird laws governing the types of fruits and other plants that go into it. The tree you want is probably not on their list of allowable plants. I want to bring honeysuckle there when I move, because I love the smell of the south, but I have to make sure it's allowed first.

the main reason why they dont is due to diseases that can be spread from one tree to another.. ever heard of dutch elm disease? thats one of the ways how it got spread.. people bring trees from one place to another..

The main disease that messes with fruit trees in general is Blight.. that can spread throught out all the fruit trees..
