What changes would occur if the Earth's atmosphere was opaque to, i.e. blocked, electromagnetic radiation in both the visible and infrared region of the EM spectrum?

Interesting question. If no visible and near infrared radiation were allowed to reach the earth's surface, no infrared radiation would be emitted by the surface and hence the surface of the earth would freeze over. Life could not live on the planet as we know it.

Well wse would no longer worry about burning up.
