It is a Carrier 110 series from 2004. The cost of running it is the main consideration. I have allergies so running it all the time helps for that.

My wife has terrible allergies. We leave it on and eat the few dollars a month the fan costs. What you got to remember though is that you have to change the filters more often. We use the expensive 3M electret red filters, and that helps so much. Also, with leaving it on, you don't have to dust as often. It's a few dollars a month, but breathing is very nice.

If the t-stat has the option, you could try to set the heating to auto and leave the fan in the on position. This way you can continue circulating the air through the system's filters without running the entire system when it doesn't need to. You won't save bundles of money on the electric bill, but it will be cheaper than leaving the heat in the on position. You'll also want to check and replace your filters more often either way.

i think that u should set it to "auto" since u are concern about the cost. leave it set at the same temperature and u should be just fine.
and maybe get something else for your allergies.

If it helps your allergies then leave it on. "AUTO" runs whenever the heater or A/C are running.

It will be cheaper for you in the long run if you keep it on auto. Trust me I know from experience.

It is best to have it on auto, gives the motor some down time... try using better filters...

normally they are set to auto. that way they only run when heat/cool is called for. running it constantly would probably shorten the lifespan of the motor. set it to auto and take a benadryl. =)

It will cost a little more to leave it on "on", but if it helps your allergies, go for it.
