LG CU-500

Cingular LG CU-500 phone will connect to the computer by USB cable or by Blue Tooth.
The advantage of USB is that multiple files can be moved at once, faster data transfer and more options are possible even changes to the core phone program. Blue Tooth on the other hand requires little setup, can be used almost anywhere and is compatible with many devises.
Dependent upon how it is connected by USB cable it can be a mass storage devise or synced to the computer allowing full access to phone by computer programs.
The mass storage is to micro memory card on the phone. The phone supports up to 1 gig memory. Don’t make the mistake of buying a 2 gig micro card because it will not work.
Secondly make sure the card is ether a San Disk or Kinston. Many brands of memory card are not supported.
Now that you have upgraded your phone memory it is time to properly connect the USB cable. You will need USB adapter cable and the LG drivers and software.
To get this you have to stop calling your phone a cu-500. It is actually an LU-500.
The CU-500 is an LU-500 sold in the USA without good customer support.
Free Drivers and software for your LU-500 can be downloaded from
http://au.lgmobile.com/webwar/jsp/phones/mnswList.jsp .
Now with your new software and drivers installed to connect as a mass storage devise turn on the phone before plugging it into the USB. “It will work like any USB flash memory devise”.
To sync the phone for use with programs turn the phone off before connecting it to USB.
Turn on the phone when connected and it will sync. I hope cu-500 users find this info useful.

Note: 1. files uploaded to the phone will not be usable unless in the correct format.
2. Large Jpg files might have to be reduced in size to be seen.
3. Buy the newer USB adapter without the box in the cable run.
4. Audio files will have to be mp3 or aac format.
