My mother's computer has completly gone whacko! I am 2000 miles away, so I am having a hard time helping. She sent me a picture of her screen,

We have tried almost everything in the book, except reformat :(
Has anyone ever seen this, or does anyone have a clue as to what the problem may be? Norton says all is fine; I have tried helping her do a system restore, but of course it's impossible for her to find it when all her fonts are written in gibberish. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it!

Thank you!

I might sound like as*, but this is not webdings, this is Marlett.

Anyway, I think you can try solving it by going to the desktop
right click, Choose the last one from the bottom (it's supposed to be properties but I don't think it would visible in English)

Then click on the 4th tab, before the last one which is usually called "Appearance"

You'd be having two buttons in the bottom right corner, click on the bottom one which is "Advanced"

You're supposed to get a mimic to the windows system, with 'text' on them. Try clicking each one and check the font chose from the bottom menu.

I really hope this would help, try it on all the text places which text in the little mimic screen and change them into basic fonts such as MS Sans Serif or Arial.

Good luck

I can't see the window but if you come up in safe mode (F8 button on boot up)you will have access to change most any settignt that is not correct withfont's or font size.
