They say some people remember names but not faces and some are vice versa, but I have trouble remembering either!
I think it stems from a job I had as a trainer when I had to meet sixty or so new people a month. After a while, I couldn't remember all of them, so I think my brain kinda 'gave up'.
I have a good memory for other things, what can I do?

I agree, it is a matter of focus to an extent. When you meet someone try repeating their name as in ...Good to meet you Mary!
Focus on their name for that moment, & not on what you're going to say next.

When you first meet someone, you need to use their name while you carry on casual conversation, as many times as possible. As you say the name, look directly at the face. Repition is still the most effective way to remember things. It may sound funny to you, but most people like being called by their name. Try it? Example:
Hi John, nice to meet you. So, John, what do you do for a living?
Are you married, John? Do you have any children? I'm curious John, what is the most exciting thing you've ever done? Etc. Etc. Etc.
You don't want to use the name in every sentence, skip one now and then so you don't sound like a machine, but the more times you can use the name, the easier it will be to remember.

It is proven that a person who forgets names and faces has a general disregard and disrespect for the person they have forgotten.
I bet if it was a hot potential mate in a club (even if you had half a load on,) you would remember their name but only if you first imagined or believed that you were getting something of the interaction?
It all depends on the value you place on the person and the interaction.
Although nerves can make you forget even the most important names and faces, which shows that you have a self sabotage mechanism. That happens in people with a negative self image and insecurity issues.

When i meet a new person i always repeat their name back to them this seems to help me remember their name. If you are still meeting that many people i don't think they would be that upset if you forgot a name now and then. If you happen to be meeting a person or a group of people on the phone write their names down this will also help.

do something like this..
suppose the guy who you're getting introduced to is called Bill, try to connect his face with his name. Maybe he has a long nose...imagine it's a bill of a bird. Maybe he's rich...imagine his pockets overflowing with bills. Just make sure you connct him and his name, and hold the picture for a moment in your mind.
It will pop into your mind the next time you see him.

MAYBE WRITE THEIR NAMES ACROSS THEIR 4-HEADS, MAYBE WRITE YOUR NAME ON YOURS ALSO, SO IT'S EASIER FOR THEM AS WELL. OR MAYBE JUST WRITE YOUR NAME ON YOUR FACE, AND LEAVE IT THERE AS A REMINDER TO REMEMBER OTHERS...I THINK IT MAY CURE YOU QUICKLY!!
