I think people think it's "cool" to be offended by something. I guess what set me off is reading fast food workers are "offended" by an ad that portrays Kevin Federline, Mr. Britney Spears, the laughingstock of the entire music industry, as a fast food worker. In my humble opinion, get over it! I've worked fast food, in restaurants, whatever! It's a crappy job(and underpaid, blah, blah, blah...)! Thank god I don't have to do it anymore, but I wouldn't be offended if someone made a commercial featuring say, Britney Spears, as an accounts payable clerk(what I do now) who's daydreaming about being a super star. Gee, that's like real life to me. Are you saying people who work in fast food want to be there? Yeah right. Nobody wants to WORK...

I just think it's become chic to say you're offended by something, whatever it is, and however inane it is to say you're offended by it. People have too much time.

I think it gets carried WAY too far, sometimes, but I guess it's good that at least we're getting to the point where bigotry and sweeping generalizations about people is not tolerated.

You know, it's something kind of NEW,still, so people take it way too far and even get to the point where they watch every word that comes out of their mouths. Maybe the next generation will feel more comfortable with it and realize that it's good to be sensitve, but it's also ok to acknowledge the differences in us all.

I answered a question yesterday about how 'white people can't dance', for example. I thought it was funny and it tickled me, but the 'bigotry' accusations came quick and hard. Unfortunately, so did the nasty comments about 'jungle drums' and 'spear shaking'
Now, maybe the white people got offended because they feel that they can't say anything without being attacked and weren't going to let something like that pass without comment, but we just have to pick our battles a little more carefully, I think.

My job is very technical and I'm very skilled at it, but I have customers that treat me differently or don't have the confidence in what I say that they would if those words came out of a MAN's mouth. But, more people DON'T treat me that way. 40 years ago, though, I probably wouldn't have even been considered for this job. So, things change, attitudes change. It just takes time. And patience. And tolerance. Still, I could get offended evey day if I let myself. I just don't let myself!

Hopefully, everyone will get sick of screaming 'Foul' at every turn.

Yes I agree with you. Everyone could be offended by something pretty much anywhere you go. I come from a very Italian family and I hear jokes all the time about how greasy Italians are, how they are all in the mafia, etc., etc. I am not the least bit offended by it, even though I very well could be. I guess I was raised to have a sense of humor, but some people can't take a joke.

They got bored protesting so they have to b*tch about dumb crap too. They just want something to whine about. These are usually the people that do nothing but report every single person that remotely offends them on Yahoo Answers.

I don't think they're too sensitive. Nor do I think they are really offended. I think they just whine because liberalism has enabled them to whine about anything and sue over anything.
