Hello Someone,
How are you today?
I hope your feeling better and if your not, your going to be soon. I have some good news for you. There are so many conditions that can lead to someone being depressed. Remember being depressed can be a by product of it of a heath problem in my case most of it was. Although it is also a mental state we are in to which is controlable when you know how. Please keep in mind that I am not a Dr. but my Mom was private counciler and has her PHD and I have had tons of experiance learning alot from several leading authorities in the self development field. I have also learned what works and what doesn't for me and would like to be of help you if you like.
I my 40 years old I have experianced mild depression on and off for many years. About 7 years ago I learned that I have a Thyroid condition called Hypothyroidism and it can cause depression. I have had mild depression on and off years before that. There are a lot of other things that can do cause depression also.Since I have switched my medication for my Thyroid (because the one I was on was not working properly for me) (I was mentlally and physically tired all of the time) my depressive symtoms have dramatically diminished and I no longer require a nap thoughout the day. I still have it a little bit of the depression but nothing like I used to, its going away. I have only been on this new Thyroid medication for a little over a month at its helping a lot.
Also keep in mind that part of depression is the way we look at things. The easyiest way to help pull you out of being depressed it to start finding things, very small things that you like and repeat to yourself I like ...... whatever that is you just looked at. You are going to have to train yourself to do this. Its may no be easy at first by you can do this.
There are many advanances in mental health that were not around 20 - 30 or more years go and I'm sure there will be more as time goes on.
Did you know that there is now a pacemaker device that the doctors can have put inside of you to prevent depression? This is FDA approved for people that are treatment resistant to medication. Most people to include a lot of doctors don't about this yet, they don't always keep up with what is new out there.
How are you sleeping? Do you have a sleeping disorder? I have mild sleep apnea and that will also contribute to depression. Do you have allergies? That will also do it if they are bad enough. In my case sometimes it was.
I can go on with more information but I think you get my point. Sometimes medication can help but normally there is something that is causing you to feel this way. You really need to talk with someone professionaly if you can't work it out yourself. A good councler will help you understand why you are depressed and that is the first step to finding your cure. Everyone experiances depression differently.
Knowing and understanding why something is making you feel that way is half of the battel and is where you need to start. In my case I was treatment resistant. Medications for depression were not the answer for me. I just did not know it at the time.
I will be more than happy to answer any questions you my have about anything if your interested. My e-mail address is D_Heyman1@Yahoo.com
I am sincere, and kind, compashionate, and normal.
If I don't know the answer to something I will also tell you. But I will also try to find an answer or point you in the right direction. I know what depression is and it sucks I would not wish it on anyone.
I hope you find this helpful.
Sincerely,
Buster

Depression is a mental condition, and so as such there is no "cure". Depression covers a wide range of disorders from a feeling of sadness to full blown delusion. The best way to handle depression is to treat the cause of the condition. Psychiatrists are the best people to manage this as they are trained to read between the lines when they talk to the patients and to find out the cause of the condition.
Depending on the cause, treatment could include anything from mental exercises to medication, which could be prescribed for a short term or long term.
See a specialist, depressives have been known to injure themselves and others around them when the condition has gotten too much for them; and in most cases there are no warning signs.

The best cure for depression is medical mental treatment. Maybe some drugs for depression, chats with professional physiologists, lots of love and understanding from loved ones. Getting up and getting out to do things and rebuilding your life. That is the best thing for depression

If you know the source of depression then you have the chance of knowing the proper cure. Music helps me, but is not a cure. It is said that brave coping with problems helps. If you know how of course.

With barn door depression there is no evidence to show any difference in efficacy between counseling (cognitive behaviour therapy) and medication.
Those seem to be the two major treatments.

When I lost a baby back in Aug my doctor put me on Zoloft for Post-partum depression and that made a world of difference. I also started exercising. Exercise releases endorphins which boost mood.

It all depends on what is causing the depression. Consult a counselor or a therapist for your best course of action.

An antidepressant. Forget the therapists. They are a waste of money.

problems are a conduct of bad management, mismanagement, incomplete management. whenever you feel depressed, just smile once, take a long breath and go out for a walk or play and talk to small kids. remember, happiness is a key to life so don't worry, be happy.

Seek a good psychiatrist and let him prescribe the drugs and not your MD, and he can monitor your dose.
