I have 4 cats and 2 dogs, so I need something that can handle pet hair. I also don't have a huge budget to allot to a new vacuum cleaner.

I also need something I can carry up the stairs fairly easily since my husband is in Afghanistan.

I just recently bought a Hoover Fusion from Wal-Mart and spent a little under $100.00......same problem, little budget! :) I have been very satisfied and it even has a special pet hair attachment! The greatest thing about the vacuum is that it has a special handle which makes it super simple and light to carry up my stairs......lots of extra attachments as well!! I highly recommend this one for the money!! :)

Well, even with lots of pet hair, the vac's belt should not break everytime you vac. Try unplugging the vac first, flip it over, unscrew the screws on the bottom, and pull out the beater bar. Use a razor blade to slice down the center of the beater bar (rotating bar) and pull out all of the hair. Replace the belt and put it all back to together again. Plug it back it and you should be good to go without having to buy a whole new vac. By the way, "Dyson" vac are very nice but.. are a couple hundred dollars. Good luck, keep me posted.

Go to Argos and get a Henry,it's black and red, very easy to maneuver around. It's good for picking the most tinniest of dirt i know it'll work for the pet hairs too.
