My cousin was having a tough time living with his parents, so I asked him to move in with me, and he did. His Parents hate the dangerous lifestyle he's chosen to live. He's 20. I'm 26, complete oposite of what he is. My family is looking up to me to convince him that it is possible to be a successful black man with out getting your hands dirty. I love him to death, andhe's probably the only person in my life that I have no problem been roommates with.

How do I show him that you can use your brain power, strategy, business sense, personality and social skills to get what you need rather then sell things that are illegal?

He seems to be happy doing what he;s doing. I don't want to treat him like his parents did.

Should I just let him be, or intervene.

If your cousin is leading a risky lifestyle, you need to try to intervene. I wouldn't just stand around and do nothing to help someone I loved who was in trouble.

That said, your cousin is still young, and may be a bit immature to boot. While being a good role model, which it sounds like you are, I would give him advice without being overbearing, to try to get him on the right track. I wouldn't just let him be. He sounds like he could benefit from a mentor and you sould like you are perfect for the job.

All you can do it teach by example. Unfortunately, he might have to take a hard fall to see what your trying to teach him.

You will need tough love on your side. Make rules that he cannot do his illegal activities where they will reflect on you or get you into trouble. No need for you to lose what you have accomplished in life.
