First time mothers always say this because they usually don't feel movements until week 20. This is my second pregnancy and i started feeling her at 13 weeks, since i already know what it feels like. By the way, i don't know why people say it's gas? We both know the more pregnancies you have the sooner you feel the baby move or if your thin. Just ignore it or it will get on your nerves.

Because it is too early for you to feel the baby move, and your healthcare providers know that.
Every pregnancy is NOT different, and every woman is NOT different. If that were true, obstetric medicine would be completely out the window. There would be no point in doing ultrasounds, taking measurements, or any of it. Of course there are some things that are different, but many things are the same.
All 11 week fetuses are essentially the same size -- that's how it is possible for a pregnancy to be dated by ultrasound. They are also in a curled position. It is clinically impossible for something that small to make movements large enough and strong enough to be felt all the way through the amniotic fluid, and the three layers of your uterus.
However, there are other movements within the uterus and your abdomen that can be felt. Tiny spasms of the uterine muscles (very common in 3rd and later pregnancies) would feel exactly like fetal movement, for example. Small gas bubbles in the lower bowel also cause a sensation of movement.

Only you can know for sure if it's your baby moving. Women who have had babies before are more likely to feel the first movements earlier because their uterine walls are thinner and more lax, and they know what to expect. So although feeling the baby move at 11 weeks is rare, its not impossible. When I felt it for the first time, it wasn't the fluttering everyone said it would be, and even my family told me that the little pokes weren't my baby moving, and that it was just gas. I started feeling little tiny kicks at 16 weeks, which is much earlier than expected for a first pregnancy, especially since I am overweight.

So if you're pretty sure its your baby, then it probab;y is, especially since this is your 4th pregnancy.

Congrats!!

Oh, yes! This is my 2nd pregnancy that I've carried past 6 weeks and I've been feeling the flutters since 12 weeks! Not strong and only occasionally but it's been there. Everyone just kind of shakes their head and tells me I'm imagining things but now I'm at 20 weeks almost and those same flutters have turned into little baby Ian having a party in there and praticing his best Elvis Karate Chop impression!

Trust your body. You know what it feels like :)

Congratulations!

i felt flutters early too, but everyone kept doubting me as well, so i passed them off as gas. now that im much further along, i realize it WAS indeed the baby (theres s difference, and oyu can tell!!) Every woman is different, people 'break the mold' of what s expected in pregnancies constantly.
Congrats!!!

Honey I Believe YOU!!! I was pregnant with my 3rd child and I felt those flutters start at 11 weeks also!!! I too had been pregnant before (obviously) and I think it is just one of those "I am the Mommy!! and I Just Know!!" things, dont worry about it. Just enjoy it and let them be jealous of you since they cant feel it yet!!

If you are on your fourt pregnancy then you are probably feeling the baby flutter around, it's a wonderful sensation, why worry about what every one else thinks? The baby dosen't need the added stress anyway so tell them to just piss off.

There are two times in your life when everyone has an opinion:
#1 When you are getting married
#2 When you are having a baby
As obnoxious as it is apparently everyone thinks that the are an expert on these two subjects. You know what you are feeling, so next time someone starts in with their "expert advice" just smile and nod while completely tuning them out! :-D

haha nothing beats what my mother does. I am 27 weeks and you can actually see my baby moving if you watch my stomach Last night I told her to come feel him move, hwile she had her hand on my stomach I could feel him kicking around and could see my stomach moving and she told me that he wasn't moving at all... Thats when you just have to laugh because remember your the pregnant not them so you know what you are going through.
