Congrats on giving your child such a wonderful start in life! Great job mom!
Stopping cold turkey really isn't the best idea. It can be really hard on both mother and child. Sounds like you are engorged from stopping too fast. Hopefully it won't turn into mastitis (breast infection). If you have any flu symptoms, call your doc ASAP!
Normally it's recommended to gradually drop nursing or pumping sessions to avoid engorgement. You might want to consider pumping so that you can relieve your discomfort and begin to gradually step down your body's production. Then you can offer that pumped milk to your son while you're giving your body time to adjust and make less milk.
Wearing cabbage leaves in your bra and taking ibuprofen can help with discomfort. Also, cold compresses. Bags of frozen peas work really well as they form to your body.

Use ice packs, warm water will make the milk drop, then bound your breast real tight, with a scarf or long piece of cloth, this will help the milk to stop dropping. What is happening is that you are engouraged, and your body wants you to release the milk somehow, but you can't because then the your factory will keep going. This is painful but it will go away after a bit. If you don't have a scarf or a cloth run to the store and by one of those sports bras but by it one size to small. You know one of the soft ones.

Ice packs. Hot water is not good.. it causes the milk to come in more. Ice packs and a sports bra. Sounds silly but frozen peas work well or freeze rice in a ziplock since the bags will be easier to wrap around the breast. Good luck.

This happened to me too... My doc said to get a bag of frozen peas and where it in your bra to make the swelling go down, then put a almost hot washcloth in your bra and massage the breast. There is also different types of medicine that can work, such as shots, and even things you can drink. ask your doc for more info.

When you breasts feel full, take a very hot shower.
Also, put raw cabbage leaves in your bra. Sounds silly, but it works.

did you stop slowly? If so your body had had enough time to accustome to the new need for milk.
