when a clerk in a store stops helping you, a real customer, to answer the phone and help that person instead ?

After all, you took the time and made the effort to be there in person, shouldn't you have priority over someone who is just asking about something and not prepared to buy ?

I think they should ALWAYS put phone calls on hold until they are done helping someone who is there in person. It is extremely irritating and rude. It always happens to me in a situation where I can't just leave or I would. Like the person already has my credit card in their hand or something like that. And then for some reason I don't feel right about saying anything once they hang up, I should though!

Every store needs a full time round the clock Receptionist/Admin to do the phone so that the clerks don't have to!!

When I was a clerk at a craft store - we had to make the phone come first and that is just wrong!!!

It bugs me. If I was the one calling, I'd be put on hold so the clerk can finish with the customer. But if I'm the customer, the phone takes priority...I don't understand.

If a clerk is rude with me by talking on the phone and not helping me then I get rude right back. I tell them to finish helping me before I complain to their boss. Then I never go back into that store.

Customers in the store always take priority.

That's terrible customer service. They should just pick up the phone and ask the caller to hold until they finish with the people in line.

yes, that does bother me, but I think it's worse when they answer a PERSONAL phonecall, making you wait, while disgussing last weekend, or treating you like YOU are interupting them, how RUDE of you...can't you see that they're busy.....ugh, I hate with a passion.....want to crawl over the counter and punch them in the mouth.....
