Not only does racism prevail in the western society, it prevails in India and amongst people of Indian-Asian decent as well. Indians have got to be the most color/complexion obsessed people on the planet earth. My grandfather was an East Indian with extremely dark skin, practically black. I can't count the number of times that he was disrespected or looked down on by other lighter skinned Indians because his skin was darker. Indians prize light-white skin above all others--it's a sick, pitiful, pathetic, mindset to have.

The first person who answered this question, where the heck do you live? Do you even live on this Earth? I am not trying to sound mean but maybe you need to wake up and smell the coffee. You are saying that Western countries are the least racist (let me laugh at it for a while). I was born in a western country and i am an Asian, but i did face racism. FYI, immigrants do not increase the rate of crime (you need to check your facts). If you watch the news lately criminals come in all different shapes and colours. The last time i checked Peter Dupas was not a "minority"; Jack the ripper was not a "minority". Another thing, immigrants don't ask for any welfare benefits, its mostly the lazy people who do not want to work that ask for benefits and not even 1% of these people are so called "minorities". My parents run a business so i know what i am talking about. Some lazy bums don't want to work and feed off of the govt. in other words, the taxpayers. As far as the reality show Big Brother goes i think it was a bunch of crap. I think she (Shilpa) pulled the racism card for no reason. I really did not see it as racism, i think she was the one who was being bossy. The answer to the question, yes racism still prevails in the western society, it stares in our faces yet we are sitting there helplessly staring back at it. If it weren't for immigrants most of the leading countries today would be non-efficient countries. Mexican immigrants chose not to work for one whole day in America and the nation came to a halt. I am not saying all caucasians are ignorant or racists, no that is not the point, b/c some people are so accepting you would be surprised. I am also want to point out that racism is present everywhere, not just in western society, it is present in Asia, Africa, and South America. Instead of being ignorant, people should count their blessings and should be thankful for all the people that work behind the scenes, regardless of their colour, shape, gender, language, disability, etc. If i sounded harsh or rude i sincerely apologize for that but racism does not go down with me well. Nobody said anything about hating anyone, sometimes i really wonder where you are coming from Veltgen? Angelina Jolie? what did she do? I think she is a great person...what did she do?

You asking this silly question is too an example of racism.

Things like racial discrimitaion, religious discrimination, etc. are like a wounds to the mankind. The only way to get healed is to forget it. The more you scratch it, the deeper it goes...

yeah! it does prevail still.

all those high sounding words and great thoughts they express about being one....the global village....we r the world..we r the people...one big global family and the rest of the blah blah is all bosh and nonsense!

not just the big brother show but the shameful behaviour of the actress angelina jolie proved it too. and this lady dared to be rude and arrogant while she was here in our country. and the equally shameful behaviour of the australian cricket team who just pushed off mr. sarath pawar confirms it too!

and except for news coverage for a couple of days there was nothing much done about either of the episodes to let the world know our protest about it! we continue to patronize jolie's films and also the aussie cricket team!

and every indian residing in other countries for whtever reason... at one stage or the other experience this discrimination.

Is Africa, Asia, the Middle East, etc importing millions outside their ethnic groups and allowing them in?

If anything White-Western countries are the LEAST racists. I mean, no other peoples are working to become minorities in their own homelands.
