Probably not in the next 1000 or 100 years. The USA is in the process of becoming a multicultural, bilingual country with divided loyalties. If you look at history you will find that all great civilizations have not just faded away but have committed suicide by doing the very thing that we are in the process of doing now.

It depends on which way the country goes political. If there is a major extended shift to the left/liberal/socialist/communist way of thinking then the chances are that we will not remain the only major superpower in the world. But if the country goes to the right/conservative way of thinking then we shall most likely remain the one and only superpower in the world. How this Iraqi debacle is resolved will be a major force in those decisions along with how the north Korean and Iranian nuclear crisises are dealt with.

I don't believe any civilization has ever stood a millennium. The mighty Romans, Greeks and Babylonian empires all fell. Countries borders on the world map have changed countless times in the last 4000 years. When a nation becomes successful, they seem to become complacent. They get fat and proud. They come to believe that hey are invinsible and that nothing could ever possibly happen to them, then comes the fall...........If you Pray, Pray for our nation.

I have to agree with most people that Humans will not exist that long the way global warming is shaping up and stuff. Our moon is moving away from earth. The Sun is getting hotter and hotter and someday it will blow up and kill us all. We have way too much politics on earth, we are more worried about blowing our own kind to hell. We can never focus on the real important issues like protecting our very existence called Earth. I hate to say this but we all deserve to die for our human errors.

lol... we wont survive the next 1000 years..... we are a war mongering race.... we will kill each other before 1000 year comes.... see all those Weapons of Mass Destruction we have..... some day in the near future, someone is going to push that "Do Not Push" button (because of our curiousity) and we'll all die.......the few that will survive will change and evolve and U.S. and all those other countries will be no more......

Not at all. Already the U.S. is NOT the only Super Power. She is just afraid to admit it. She has super weapons but she is no longer the ONLY Super Power, IF you want to categorize it as such. Besides many other countries are creating their own super weapons/ None of them much care that U.S. is trying to stifle their right to muclear weapons.

Unless something changes population growth numbers, no government system will be recognizable in 1000 years, if the human race even still exists.

No, probably not. I think that will lie in the hands of someone like China or even Korea. Not that I disagree with what we are doing right now; I don't necessarily understand it, but I will support our troops, it's just that I think we are getting spread so thin that someone is going to jump in and take advantage of us at our weakest.
