Can Watching A Lot of TV Shows and Movies Give Us An Unrealistic Representation of the World?

This is something that i have been wondering a lot about lately. It seems that a lot of my impressions on how things work in the real world are distorted by tv or movies. Do you think that the way people view the world is greatly affected by scripted tv shows and movies?

Absolutely!
We are at best very impressionable, and at worst, downright gullible! We are influenced by music, video games, magazine ads, the people around us, the media, and yes.... by what we see on television! There are so many overt and subliminal messages that we take into our minds on a daily basis, that it would be impossible for us not to be influenced in some way. Solution?? At least as far as the television goes, we can simply turn it off!
(Yeah, right! Like that's gonna happen!!) LOL

If you want to know about reality then get out there and do something for someone in need.

TV is for entertainment not something to base your life upon. Just think about it like this, do you see the crew from some of the TV programs doing their thing in real life? No, they are not doctors or nurses or murderers, just plain folks like you and me that happen to be on TV for entertainment.

a lot like a hangover if the bed is spinning you put a foot on the ground...in my experience you need to keep grounded in reality, keep good healthy relationships both in family and friends and create a good hobby or two and not get caught up in 'media/tv thinking'
