First of all the government shouldn't make anyone go anywhere unless they have broken the law. To my knowledge, Jane Fonda has not done anything illegal since she (and we) are blessed to live in a country where "bashing everything that is good" is not illegal. Second, there are more ways to give your life to your country than joining the army and killing people. You can also dedicate your life to stopping bad decisions that hurt us all as a nation. That is what democracy is all about.
Scott - The US was originally a representative republic, but I think with the various constitutional amendments so that we now vote directly for our senators and for the grand electors (instead of having them chosen by each state however it wanted) the US may now be considered an indirect democracy. None of that matters really, the point is she lives in a country which protects the freedom of speech.

A novel idea - one which I like, by the way - but implausible for a couple of very good reasons.
The government doesn't have the power to make her do that.
She wouldn't be admitted to ANY VFW post that I know of.
Military men have long memories, especially when it comes to treason and traitors.
NOT TO SOME POLISCI MAJOR: You know what would really be cool? If you knew what the heck you were talking about. Vets aren't mad at her for voicing her opinion; we're mad at her for committing treason by giving aid and support to our enemy. I sure hope you pay more attention in class than you do here.....

All this anti-conflict speech what's faulty wih her? Oh yea not something!! She is an American, less than the first change she has the right to say in spite of she needs to. She isn't commiting treason, neither is she a traitor. Now granted, it isn't proper to commence booing and bashing infantrymen returing residing house from the battlefield (If this even occurred in any respect, yet in spite of everything with rights, there are household initiatives.), yet together, we gained't brush aside any anti-conflict speech, or protests as traitorous and Anti-American, they're faraway from such issues. also people like Jane Fonda are not even protesting antagonistic to the troops, they're protesting the conflict itself.

The guys at VFW wouldn't hurt her, they may have a little chat with her, but those are the very men that defended her right to make a total *** of her self.
Maybe if she handed out free copies of that great movie Barbarella they would let her pass.
I have never seen someone with less talent make more noise, talk about ruining your fathers good name.

What would be even cooler is if these vets realized that they should be pissed at the politicans for sending them to die in Vietnam, not at Jane Fonda for stating her opinion.

They'll string her up...Besides...
Jane Fonda couldn't "see the light" if it hit her in the forehead.
She'll never change.

you liked the VFW thing, huh. wouldn't it be ironic if we all went to bookies and placed bets on how long she would last, then donated the earnings to the troops in Iraq?

Jane Fonda lives in a democracy...where she can do or say what she wants...if her rights are taken away...everyone's rights are taken away!
