Prostitution is the oldest paid profession.
I think hunter, people used to be nomadic and follow herds and stuff. Then learnt to stay in one place and have a 'garden' and livestock.

I think it is giving orders, God told Aadam and Eve not to eat the forbidden fruit. Then Adam ordered Eve to tend the garden while he built shelter.

Motherhood, it is a 24-7, day a week job, no pay, no holiday, no vacation, and it has been around for billions of years, also mothers have to be Doctors, teachers accountants, cooks, nurses, everything you name it, a mom has to be the hardest job, and probably the most fun, I am not a mom but I have a feeling it is pretty hard yet fun.

I believe that the oldest profession is prostitution. I would rather scrub toilets than be that low.

Steven - I'm afraid Adam didn't do the gardening - God did!
So I guess the first profession is theft.
